VICTIM EMPOWERMENT
From survivor to change agent.
A 12‑month psychosocial and community empowerment programme for victims and survivors of gender‑based violence, crime and violence.
1. FOCUS AREA
This programme empowers victims of crime, abuse and violence to heal, rebuild their lives and become advocates for safer, stronger communities.
Our approach is trauma‑informed, strengths‑based and rooted in dignity, safety and human rights.
Activities include psychosocial support, individual and group counselling, life skills development, advocacy, safety planning and referral to essential services.
2. THE NEED
Victims of crime, abuse and violence face multiple barriers that impact their recovery and wellbeing, including:
Trauma, fear and emotional distress
Stigma, blame and social judgement
Lack of safety and protection
Limited access to psychosocial support
Poverty and financial dependence
Lack of information about rights and services
Re‑victimisation and ongoing risks
Weak support systems and social isolation
3. TARGET GROUPS
We work with individuals who are victims or survivors of crime, abuse and violence, including:
Women and girls experiencing gender‑based violence
Only Youth who have been abused
Victims of domestic violence
Elderly persons who have been abused
Survivors of sexual violence
Individuals affected by other forms of violence or crime
4. OUR TEAM
Our multidisciplinary team brings together expertise in social work, counselling, advocacy and programme management. The team includes:
Programme Manager – Overall leadership, planning and management
Social Worker / Counsellor – Psychosocial support, counselling and case management
Advocacy & Rights Worker – Rights education, advocacy and safety planning
Life Skills Facilitator – Life skills development and empowerment
Administration – Coordination, records, monitoring and reporting
